Spotlight on DJ Sweetie!
Jackie (DJ Sweetie) Stange started listening came to Hypnotik Radio back in 2010. She came in as a fan of the station, but her love of music was so strong that, in March of 2011, she decided to become a DJ for Hypnotik. As her following grew, Jackie was promoted to DJ Manager in October of 2011.
When Jackie isn’t spinning the tunes, she works at a daycare center, watching kids, which she loves to do. She also works at a hardware store. Outside of work, Jackie and Dan (DJ Ice), her fiancé, spend a lot of time together cuddling on the couch at home and watching films and playing games on Facebook and www.woah.co. Because of her work outside of the house, Jackie doesn’t have much time to DJ, but she does love to shop, and she would like to get more air time for her show, “Club Sweet with DJ Sweetie”. On Thursday, she spent several hours on air, on DJ duty, for DJ Ice’s birthday bash on Hypnotik Radio. DJ Sweetie can be heard each Thursday on www.hypnotikradio.com from 9pm to 11pm EST.
Rest In Peace, Epstein!
Robert Hegyes, a.k.a. Juan Epstein, who starred on the 1970s hit t.v.s show “Welcome Back Kotter” died on Thursday of a heart attack.
Along with numerous performances on stage, Hegyes also had a recurring role on “Cagney and Lacey”.
Several months ago Good Morning America featured actors from hit shows such as “Welcome Back Kotter” and “Growing Pains”. Hegyes was one of the members of the cast of “Kotter” who joined John Travolta and Gabe Caplan for the reunion. He looked happy and fit. There was no sign of any health issues.
I can remember watching “Welcome Back Kotter” as a child and it seems so odd now that one of the cast members is gone. Travolta stated that he lost a great friend and a truly great actor in Hegyes. Robert “Epstein” Hegyes was 60 years old. He will be missed.
The Oscar Goes To…
Well, we don’t know which film will be getting the Academy Award this year, but the nominees for “Best Picture” are in. I have to admit I haven’t seen any of them and, since movie-goers don’t get to vote, I guess my opinion on the matter doesn’t really count.
But, here are the five nominees for “Best Picture”.
The Artist – It looks good and might make more people appreciate old-style films.
- The Descendants – George Clooney is always a favourite and almost always a winner.
- Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close – Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock. Totally deserving of an Oscar.
- The Help – Emma Stone is one of my favourites. And the film is said to have a touching and heart-warming story.
- Hugo – It’s a rarity when an animated film gets nominated, but when it does, it generally means it has an amazing story-line and is an Academy favourite.
My favourites are a toss-up between “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close” and “The Help”. If I had to wager, however, the award will end up going to “The Artist”. Who do you choose?
